about

For today's Song(s) of the Weak, we're featuring a couple of Philharmonette numbers in particularly rough, early versions (which I know I'll regret having put out already later, when we start getting better ones):

"Tomatohead Blues" -recorded at Bubala's, August 9, '07 -Just wanted to try to write something that sounded like Ellington's Jungle Band from the late 20's and early 30's; of course, it's not anywhere near as elegant as all that, but, hey, nothing else is, either. Note fab trumpet solo by one Keiichi Hashimoto, magically returned to the fold for a few gigs last summer -a happy event indeed! -not to mention a fine solo by Ted DeColo, who happened to be sitting in on clarinet that night, gawd luv 'im...
