"Still Kicking" -the hasty debut performance of a song written for my sister and all our wonderful friends in the sadly soggy land of dreams, New Orleans, Louisiana, where the Philharmonic has been fortunate to play many times. Pissed off? Certainly! But with every intention of rising above it... this was recorded (by Chris Blood, as usual-thanks, CB!) at a hurricane Katrina relief benefit in P'town last month -wonderful to see so many folks mobilizing to help the people down there, and I hope everyone will stay with it, 'cause it's a big job.
By the way, our friends Bethany Bultman (of the New Orleans Musician's Clinic) and Rick Roth (of Mirror Image in Providence) have had a bundle of terrific looking t-shirts made, emblazoned with the legend "NEW ORLEANS - BENT, BUT NOT BROKEN", and they gave me a bunch of them to sell for the cause (all proceeds will go the the Musician's Clinic; Hanes even donated the shirts!)
