This one dates to Travis & Shook back in the seventies sometime, I think, and may have been co-written by Steve Shook, possibly. (It's hard to be certain about anything that happened in the seventies.) NRBQ's original drummer Tom Staley played drums on the demo version, which was just about the first thing ever produced by Bill ("Bear"; "Noisy"; call him what you will) Scheniman. It's a relatively new song for the Philharmonic, but it has already acquired a definite New Orleans feel, and is obviously already completely owned by the one and many Rikki Bates. This version (from the last night of our Lizard residency, last Tuesday, April 27th) is mighty distorted; however, eat me. The ideas and feelings represented in the lyrics are as timeless now as they ever were. I'm particularly proud of including the phrase "oh, you kid" in what was intended to be a seventies dance hit, again proving how incredibly modern I am (or, at least, was.)
